Lynnette M. Neufeld, PhD strives to accomplish a professional goal of mobilizing intellectual resources to improve the health and nutrition of populations, using strategic research to inform better program design and implementation.
Before joining FAO in 2022, Dr. Neufeld was Director of Monitoring, Learning and Research at the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and part of its Senior Management Team, guiding research, evaluation, and organizational strategy. She has long been active in the global nutrition community, serving on boards and advisory groups, and since 2010 has chaired the Steering Committee of the Micronutrient Forum. Prior to GAIN, she led strategic research at the Micronutrient Initiative. From 1998 to 2009, she directed Nutritional Epidemiology at Mexico’s National Institute of Public Health, leading research on child health and nutrition, including evaluation of the Oportunidades program. She continues collaborations with Emory, Cornell, and INSP, and has nearly 100 peer‑reviewed publications advancing nutrition and public health in Latin America.
