Dr. Wu Bingfang currently is a professor of Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He is co-chair of GEO GEOGLAM flagship since 2009; Chair of Digital Agriculture Technical Committee of China National Society of Digital Earth, Chair of Remote Sensing Technical Committee of China Ecology Association.
His research interests are the remote sensing methodologies and applications in agriculture, water resource and ecosystem, especially in crop monitoring and food security assessment, evapotranspiration (ET) and drought monitoring, and water availability assessment. He has led the development of remote sensing based operational monitoring systems including CropWatch Cloud since 1992, DroughtWatch since 1993, ETWatch Cloud since 2002, which has transformed the crop and ET monitoring from a centralized, technical intensive domain into an open and democratized public good.
Dr. WU Bingfang has published 10 monographs including ChinaCover atlas, and more than 350 peer-reviewed papers. He has obtained the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, the second prize of Beijing Natural Science Award, and others. He is in the lists of Highly Cited Researchers and Top 2% Scientists.
