Dr. Surabhi Mittal is an agricultural economist with over 28 years of experience in management, policy-oriented research, and development across Asia and Africa. Currently serving as Deputy Director, Health Economics and Economist (Asia) at Nutrition International, she leads analytical work on nutrition intervention design, advances innovative financing, and strengthens strategic partnerships. 

From March 2025-2026, she was seconded to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as a Natural Resources and Agriculture Specialist. In this role, she contributed to developing nutrition tagging systems, integrated nutrition-sensitive approaches into projects, and co-led technical assistance (TA) processing for Bangladesh. 

Her diverse expertise includes food and nutrition security, benefit-cost analysis, climate-smart agriculture, gender mainstreaming, and digitalization. Having held positions at CGIAR-CIMMYT, Cornell University, ICRIER, and ICAR, Dr. Mittal has a proven track record of managing international projects and collaborating with governments to translate economic evidence into actionable policy. She is a proud alumna of the 2011 International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
