Shigeo Shimizu is Executive Director for Japan at the Asian Development Bank, a position he has held since August 2023. He previously served as Executive Director at the Inter-American Development Bank (2020–2023), representing Croatia, Japan, Korea, Portugal, Slovenia, and the United Kingdom, and chaired both the Audit Committee and the Organization, Human Resources and Board Matters Committee. Earlier, he held senior roles in the Government of Japan, including Minister at the Embassy of Japan in the United States and Director of Finance at the Ministry of Defense. He holds a Master of Public Administration from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tokyo.
