Mohamed Anees is the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare. As the Permanent Secretary, is the head of the civil service at the Ministry and leads the technical and operational management of the Ministry.
Anees is an experienced public sector professional, with nearly two decades serving in various roles. He began his career in the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Marine Resources in 2006, where he served until 2021 in various technical roles. During this period, he was actively involved in agricultural extension services, conducting farmer training, supporting pest and disease control programs, and strengthening national biosecurity efforts. He also served as a Senior Quarantine Officer, contributing to the regulation and safe movement of phytosanitary products into the Maldives.
Following this, he spent three years working with local councils, gaining valuable experience in decentralized governance and community level development. With the establishment of the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare, he rejoined the ministry in January 2024 as Permanent Secretary.
