Mio Oka

Ms. Mio Oka joined the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 2005 and since February 2024 is Country Director for the India Resident Mission. Ms. Oka oversees steering ADB operations in India and fostering relations with the government and the country’s other development partners.

Ms. Oka has 28 years of professional work experience, including two decades with ADB. Before taking on her current role, she served as Director of the Emerging Areas Team in the Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development Sector Office, where she led the design and implementation of multi-country projects, advanced policy development, and fostered cross-sector collaboration—championing the integration of emerging technologies and nature-based solutions in agriculture and rural development. Her distinguished career at ADB also includes a six-year tenure as Senior Advisor to the President. She began her journey at ADB as a Social Development Sector Specialist (2005–2009), later serving as a Budget and Management Services Specialist.
