Marika Nomura

Marika Nomura has supported technical cooperation projects in nutrition and health, focusing on project formulation, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity development. Her expertise lies in nutrition policy, school meal management, sustainable and healthy diets, and primary health care, drawing on Japan’s long-standing experience in nutrition improvement.

Prior to her role at JICA, Marika gained extensive international experience through academic and professional engagements. She worked at a medical college in Japan, contributed to a JICA technical cooperation project in Yemen, collaborated with the Harvard School of Public Health in the United States, and served at the National Institute of Public Health in Japan. Her research and practice emphasize the intersection of nutrition, public health, and international cooperation, with a strong commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and universal health coverage.

Marika has authored and co-authored numerous publications on nutrition and public health, including studies on dietary intake and planetary health. She continues to play a key role in shaping JICA’s global nutrition agenda and strengthening evidence-based approaches to improve health outcomes worldwide.
