Yamakuchi has extensive experience in agricultural policy planning and international collaboration, leading initiatives to enhance sustainable food systems. He is currently engaged in developing policies for Japan’s rice sector, overseeing key measures related to production, supply, and food security. He co-chaired the 13th APTERR Council Meeting in Tokyo in 2025 together with Brunei Darussalam, where he led a wide range of discussions to strengthen the utilisation of APTERR. At this forum, he will present Japan’s efforts and perspectives on securing effective disaster response in the region.
