Gabriel Ferrero is Senior Strategy Advisor to the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP). He previously served as Ambassador-at-Large for Global Food Security for the Government of Spain from 2021 to 2026 and chaired the United Nations Committee on World Food Security from 2021 to 2023.
From 2018 to 2021, he was Director General for Sustainable Development Policies at Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation. Earlier, he served in the Executive Office of the United Nations Secretary-General from 2011 to 2017, where he coordinated the UN Secretary-General’s High Level Task Force on Global Food Security and advised on the Post-2015 Development Agenda. In this role, he supported global negotiations leading to the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and contributed to the development of Sustainable Development Goal 2 on Zero Hunger.
Gabriel Ferrero holds a PhD from the Technological University of Valencia and has authored over 50 publications.
