Danny has over 25 years of experience across 30 countries, including 12 years in Asia and the Pacific, leading multidisciplinary teams on environment, food, diets, and nutrition. He has directed global projects funded by the EU, ACIAR, AusAid, NZAID, and the Global Environment Facility, with a strong focus on improving local, nutritious foods in school meals and strengthening school food environments. His work emphasizes integrated school nutrition approaches, biodiversity‑rich school gardens, and linking agroecological food production to school meals and education. Currently Principal Scientist at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, Danny coordinated the Biodiversity for Food and Nutrition project, recognized as one of CGIAR’s top innovations of the past 50 years. He has authored major reports, including the WHO/CBD Connecting Global Priorities: Biodiversity and Human Health and the 2023 white paper School Meals and Food Systems. With a PhD in Agriculture from the University of Sydney, Danny has published over 200 works and serves as Series Editor of the Issues for Agricultural Biodiversity book series.
