Boundeth Southavilay

Dr. Boundeth currently serves as the Director General of the Department of Planning and Cooperation under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. He holds a Ph.D. in Agriculture and Resource Economics from Kyushu University, Japan (2013), along with a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development and a Bachelor of Science in Forest Management obtained in Thailand. Since beginning his public service career at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in 1999, he has advanced through various technical and leadership roles, including Director of the Economic Integration Division, Deputy Director General of the Department of Research and Synthesis at the Prime Minister’s Office, and Deputy Director General of the Department of Planning and Cooperation. In 2024, he was appointed Director General, where he now leads strategic planning, sectoral coordination, and cooperation initiatives to promote sustainable agricultural and environmental development in Lao PDR.
