Asis G. Perez

Atty. Asis G. Perez is a seasoned advocate for food security, environmental protection, and sustainable development. He is a former convenor of Tugon Kabuhayan, a prominent food security and livelihood advocacy group, and one of the lead convenors of the National Summit for the West Philippine Sea. 

His career spans significant leadership roles:

  • As the National Director of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) from 2011 to 2016, he led initiatives that enhanced the country’s fisheries governance and enforcement capabilities.
  • Prior to this, he served as Area Director for Tanggol Kalikasan—Southern Luzon, eventually becoming its Executive Director.

He also represented the United States Department of Interior–International Technical Assistance Program (US-DOITAP) as its In-Country Representative in the Philippines. His extensive experience in handling environmental cases and implementing laws earned him a place as a member of the Supreme Court’s Special Committee on the Rules of Procedure for Environmental Cases.

Through his leadership, Atty. Perez continues to champion sustainable agriculture, fisheries development, and climate resilience, toward achieving a food-secure Philippines with prosperous farmers and fisherfolk.
