Mr. Ahmed Waheed serves as Director in the Climate Change Department of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, Government of Maldives, where he leads work on climate resilience, adaptation planning, and resource mobilization for national climate initiatives. With more than a decade of experience in climate policy and international negotiations, he has contributed to key national frameworks including the National Climate Change Policy Framework, Climate Emergency Act, Nationally Determined Contributions, National Communications, and the Maldives’ first Biennial Transparency Report under the UNFCCC. He also supports implementation of climate resilience programs, including the ADB-supported Climate Resilience and Food Security Project, which strengthens early warning systems, promotes urban agriculture, and enhances food security in vulnerable island communities.
