These innovations demonstrate how Canadian tech solutions enable measurable environmental impact, empower smallholder farmers, and support data‑driven decision-making across Asia’s evolving food and agriculture systems.
Overview of Technology/ Innovation:
Canada’s participation highlights a strong mix of inclusive development, climate‑smart agriculture, cooperative enterprise models, nutrition integration, food safety, and cutting‑edge environmental technologies across the program. MEDA will present its blended‑finance work supporting cacao‑sector SMEs and cooperatives in Davao through the RIISA project, while Ostrom Climate Solutions showcases its large‑scale climate‑smart agriculture initiative in the Upper Pampanga River Basin, promoting methane‑reducing AWD rice‑farming and farmer capacity-building. SOCODEVI will highlight the success of the Canadian cooperative model through long‑term investments in Vietnam, and the CANSAFE initiative will demonstrate Canada’s regional support for food safety, plant and animal health, and regulatory harmonization across ASEAN. Nutrition International will share its work helping local governments integrate and track nutrition interventions and its collaboration with ADB to embed nutrition into investment portfolios. A standalone session on pulses, led by the Global Pulse Confederation, will spotlight pulses as a cost‑effective, nutritious, and environmentally sustainable solution, including pilots for school meals in the region. Canada’s technology leadership is also featured: GHGSat will present satellite‑based emissions mapping that enables verifiable carbon‑credit generation, and Sensenet will showcase early‑warning systems for forest fires and deforestation to protect natural capital and agricultural landscapes.
