Technology/ Innovation: Tools to strengthen food systems transformation

The GAIN booth will showcase innovative tools and approaches designed to accelerate food systems transformation through improved data use, policy alignment, finance tracking, and strategic foresight. The Food Systems Dashboard (FSD) provides a comprehensive view of national food systems by integrating data from multiple sources, enabling governments and policymakers to identify gaps, priorities, and opportunities for action. The Food Systems Countdown Initiative (FSCI) monitors progress through a set of integrated indicators, supporting accountability and evidence-based decision-making. The Policy Coherence Tool helps align actions across sectors, reducing fragmented policymaking and strengthening coordinated efforts toward shared food system goals. The Financial Flow to Food Systems (3FS) Tool tracks financial flows to food systems, enabling better alignment of investments with national priorities. The Diet Quality Questionnaire (DQQ) offers a rapid, five-minute survey to assess dietary quality at population level. GAIN’s Foresight Tool supports forward-looking analysis, helping stakeholders anticipate emerging challenges and design resilient, future-ready food systems strategies.

Overview of Technology/ Innovation:

GAIN tools are designed to guide strategic decision-making, strengthen cross-sectoral coordination, and support evidence-based prioritisation and accountability across the food systems. These tools can significantly enhance the design, implementation, and long-term sustainability of large-scale food systems transformation initiatives across Asia and the Pacific, ensuring that investments are more targeted, inclusive, and deliver measurable nutrition and sustainability outcomes.
