Technology/ Innovation: Agricultural-based Carbon Credit

Faeger is currently implementing climate-smart agriculture projects in the Philippines, particularly in the rice sector. We are promoting a water management method called AWD (Alternate Wetting and Drying) in collaboration with local institutions in Luzon Island. Through this approach, we aim to reduce methane emissions from rice fields and generate carbon credits under the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM). A portion of the revenue from these carbon credits is returned directly to farmers as benefits.

Overview of Technology / Project:

One of the ADB’s flagship programs is Sustainable Rice Farming, which aligns perfectly with the Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) method Faeger is promoting via the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM). To streamline this process, we developed an Android app for Digital MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification), significantly enhancing monitoring efficiency. Furthermore, we collaborate with agricultural research and microfinance institutions to provide farmers with comprehensive, end-to-end support.
