MMB started working at FAO in 2019 as AMR project technical assistant, and currently as the National ECTAD programme coordinator, leading the implementation of the Resilient Philippines Project (Pandemic Fund) and other projects related to animal production and health. In her role at FAO, MMB and her team support the animal health sector, One Health-related committees in the Philippines, farmers and communities in improving policies and guidelines, technical capacities, farm practices, and awareness on different animal health and “One Health” related concerns and areas.
MMB previously worked as a researcher at the Biosafety and Environment Section, Philippine Carabao Center, Department of Agriculture, with focus on ruminant infectious diseases, economically important genetic disorders in livestock, Antimicrobial Resistance, and the development of disease diagnostic platforms using molecular techniques and emerging technologies (e.g. DNA nanosensors, gene editing, etc).
