John van Ruiten studied plant sciences and plant breeding at Wageningen University. In 1985 he started working in the field of Quality control and Inspections in the Netherlands. As manager inspections and manager laboratories in the Horticultural Inspection body he gained practical experience in execution of certification programs.
From 2000 onwards John was managing director of Naktuinbouw and end-responsible for inspection and certification programs. Also, John is internationally involved in developing seed and plant material legislation in the EU. He retired in 2024 from this Service and is working as consultant in horticultural projects/programs.
