Fidellis Moroyagl

Principal Livestock Development Officer, Department of Agriculture and Livestock
Papua New Guinea

I graduated with Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at the Papua New Guinea University of Technology. Had 15 years of field experience and participate in both crop and livestock production and policy development.

One of the impact agriculture project which I had contributed to the country is Coffee and Honey Bee integrated project which was my special research paper before completing university study. Secondly, I had developed the concept paper for regional Mono-gastric livestock Feed mill development in West New Britain Province, Papua New Guinea. Realising the high cost of imported livestock feed I had developed concept paper (PIP submission) to produce mono-gastric animal feed using the ago-industrial by-products locally available.  This paper was formally presented to the Department of Commerce, Trade and Industry and it is captured in the National Trade Policy 2017 - 2032.

Further, I had developed research papers on crop and honey bee integration to improve pollination and crop infestation.  The vanilla and honey bee integration concept is to enhance pollination which is a labour intensive issue in vanilla producing countries including PNG. Coffee and Honey Bee integration research paper is documented to use honey bee as a biological control for coffee while extracting nectar as precursor of honey. Also, documented coastal estuary aquaculture development specifically barramundi, prawns and sea cucumber farming. Further, write-up research paper on biofiltration of wastewater and protecting sea food from waste water (black water) contamination.

I am currently working as Principal Livestock Development officer for the Department of Agriculture and Livestock.
